Two arrested for online fraud

Kochi: The Pallurthuy police  arrested two foreigners in connection with an online fraud from their hideout in Bengaluru.

The arrested are Mahad Mohammad Charde, 35, son of Mohammad Charde from Djibouti, and Bocar Dit Binke, 23, son of Issar Bocar Ballo from Mali.

A police team under the leadership of Mattancherry assistant commissioner G. Venu had been tracking the online fraudsters based on a complaint by a native of Mundanveli in Thoppumpady.

According to the police, the susp-ects promised to supply the complainant two cameras through  on  website Quikr. While one of them was actually priced Rs 47,000 and the other Rs 3,000, they collected Rs 65,200 from the Mundanveli native. Soon after the duo vanished.

The police suspect that the suspects must have cheated several such persons in the state. Police said that a Nigerian named Kelvin is the kingpin behind the racket.

A police team headed by Palluruthi police inspector V.G. Raveendranath camped in Bengaluru and arrested the two persons. The search for the Nigerian is still on, police said.
