The era of free social messaging apps has given each one the freedom of sending messages at cost zero. WhatsApp is one such user-friendly app, which allows you to send, receive messages/ calls for free. However, chat apps make you spend a specific amount of money on your Internet data each month. An Indian developer has created an app, which allows you to chat without the need of an Internet connection.

Since every smartphone today has Bluetooth connectivity, the WhatsApp Bluetooth app makes use of this option to send and receive messages. The chat application does not send messages over the Internet connection. However, do note that the WhatsApp Bluetooth app is a simple Bluetooth chatting application and has no relation or connection with the original WhatsApp app from Facebook. WhatsApp Bluetooth uses your phone’s Bluetooth and allows you to indirectly send/receive messages for free.

According to the screenshots shown below, the WhatsApp Bluetooth App has marginally resembles the interface of the original WhatsApp. Also do note that this app entertains ads, which in short, pays for the developer and also eats into your Internet data.

WhatsApp Bluetooth is not listed on Google Play Store. The app can only be downloaded directly from its official website (whatsappbluetooth.com). At present, the WhatsApp Bluetooth App is only compatible with Android handsets. If you intend using it, you will have to download the apk file and manually sideload the application.

Using the Bluetooth chat application seems pointless as you need to have your friends and family (with whom you would wish to chat with) also install the application on their smartphones. On the other hand, the application also works only in the vicinity of around 20 – 30 feet (a decent range of Bluetooth connectivity). Therefore, walking down to your friend and talking seems a better choice than chatting with him 10-feet away.

The app could make sense if you want to send files or pictures to another smartphone or chat with friends across the neighbouring room. We did not find any other reason for installing the app.

Note: The app could contain spyware or adware, and since it is not listed on the Google Play Store, there is not authenticity for the same.
