National award winner Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukherji admitted after accident

He was traveling in an auto rickshaw when it overturned

New Delhi: Bengali film-maker Srijit Mukherji has been admitted to AIIMS Trauma centre after he met with an accident here.

"He has hurt his ankle badly and has suffered injury and minor fracture in his left foot. He was traveling in an auto rickshaw which overturned last night following which he was brought here," said a senior doctor at AIIMS.

Mujherji was in the capital to attend 62nd National Film Awards ceremony during which he was awarded the best director and best original screenplay for his film Chotushkone. "He has undergone a preliminary surgery of 3-4 hours of his left foot and he is recuperting well," the doctor added.

The 37-year-old, also a former economist, is known for his Bengali films like 'Autograph', 'Baishe Srabon', 'Hemlock Society', 'Mishawr Rawhoshyo', and 'Jaatishwar'.
