Deepika Padukone cancels radio interview and special screening after Salman Khan's verdict
The entire industry is in a state of shock after the verdict
Mumbai: Deepika Padukone is basking in the glory of success as her film 'Piku' has received several accolades. The actress who is currently juggling several events at a time, recently wrapped up shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's infamous dance-off in 'Bajirao Mastani'. The entire cast of 'Piku'- Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan have been on a promotional spree as the film is slated to hit the theaters on May 8.

However, after Salman Khan's 2002 hit-and-run case verdict, the makers of 'Piku' didn't find it appropriate to go ahead with the promotions- a rad. They also cancelled the films' special screening which was to be held on Wednesday. Reportedly, Deepika was roped in for a Yash Raj film, 'Sultan' with Salman Khan. The film was supposed to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

Salman has been convicted for all the eight charges pressed on him. A Mumbai sessions court held him guilty and sentenced him to 5-years in jail. Salman and his lawyer however put forth their appeal of immediate bail to the High Court. He was granted 2-day interim bail after which a hearing will be held.

Members of the film industry said it was a “sad moment” for Salman, calling him a “simple and real” man and that he was the most helpful man in the industry.
