Attention DC tech fans, we have some great news for you. As you know, we have been bringing you a series of hacks, tweaks and DIYs in our daily feature ‘A HACK A DAY’. We are now pushing it a step further to personalize it, for you. The feature lists YouTube videos from around the world, which teaches you a hack or two on how you can tweak your existing gadgets, create new stuff or make accessories for them and DIY stuff. The videos feature technology geeks, professionals and rookies, who prepare simple DIY stuff, to useful equipment, that anyone can make and use in daily life.
We are sure that there are many more technology enthusiasts amongst you and you would definitely have your own unique ideas and simple inventions that can make a difference in a common man’s life.
Presenting the ‘DC Reader’s HACK A DAY Contest’
We give you the opportunity to bring out your ideas and we shall feature them on our website. All you need to do is show us your hack and tweaks in a simple video with an explanation on how anyone can build it with simple items from around your house. Upload your video to YouTube (for free) and send us the link with a brief explanation on how you did it, the reason behind the DIY, and how it could benefit everyone. You can send in as many videos as you like.
Every week, Deccan Chronicle will go through each of the entries, and our Chief Editor, along with the Technology Head, will pronounce a winner. The winner will have his hack / DIY video featured in our ‘A HACK A DAY’ article, entitled ‘DC Reader’s HACK A DAY Winner Of The WEEK’ and he shall be automatically qualified in the monthly finals, where we will announce a ‘Reader’s Hack Of The Month’ winner along with the ‘Editor’s Choice Award'.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and shoot your hack / DIY video. Upload it to YouTube and send us the link. If you cannot record a video, you can send in a step-by-step guide in a Microsoft Word document along with good quality photos for each step. Make sure you give a detailed list of the materials needed for the hack / DIY.
Send in your entries to online@deccanmail.com with the subject line ‘MY HACK A DAY’. Each email will be considered as a single entry. Every entry will be entitled to the weekly contest. Don’t forget to attach your photo, mention your full name, age, designation, college or company you work for, and your complete address with contact details. If more than one people are involved in the DIY, you would have to credit all those working together.
Rules:
• The video should be your own original footage.
• The hack / DIY idea should be your own original findings and research.
• The hack / DIY should be simple, quick and easy for anyone who wants to attempt it.
• The hack / DIY should not be illegal, dangerous, harmful, or alike. These will be disqualified.
• Do not send in someone else’s ideas and work. The entry will be disqualified.
