Hyderabad: Minister for Information Technology, K.T.Rama Rao, on a two-week tour of the US, on Thursday visited Washington and New York and met several big industrialists and NRIs.

He called on Boeing International president Marc Allen and sought investments in Telangana. Mr Rao brought to the notice of Mr Allen the TS government’s plans of setting up a 1,000-acres aerospace park close to existing Adibatla aerospace SEZ in Hyderabad besides setting up new aerospace parks in Warangal and Nizamabad to position TS as the ideal aerospace manufacturing destination of the country.

Mr Rao said the TS government has identified aerospace sector as the core industry in its new industrial policy announced recently and is offering incentives in a bid to compete with Bengaluru as the main hub for manufacturing aircraft components and aircraft.

He told Mr Allen that Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. is currently setting up three new facilities in the 250-acre SEZ at Adibatla in alliance with Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin for the manufacture of helicopter cabins, aircraft and its components and invited Boeing to set up similar facilities.

Responding favourably to his request, Mr Allen said the company would send a delegation to TS in July to explore investment proposals in the new state.

Mr Rao also called on, Suparno Banerjee, VP, Public Sector Programmes of HP, which has developed innovative programmes in the health and education sectors.

Mr Banerjee agreed to develop trauma centres in Hyderabad city as a part of their CSR activities. The possibility of choosing Hyderabad to locate the manufacturing facility for HP printers was also discussed.

Senior representatives from Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, Pfizer, Wipro and Master Card met Mr Rao. Vice-President, Eclat Health Solutions Mr Jerry Jorgensen also met Mr Rao and offered to start a healthcare KPO and analytics company in Karimnagar, where 200 people will be employed in the next six months.
