It’s wonderful to see Jo back on screen: Suriya
Actor's wife Jyotika will be returning to films after a long gap
Actor Suriya was in Hyderabad on Friday to promote his film Rakshasudu, a dubbed version of his Tamil film Mass. Venkat Prabhu has directed the film and Nayantara plays the female lead.“Venkat was my classmate. Now, he’s an all-rounder. He is a fantastic actor, singer and director,” Suriya says about the director, adding that Mahesh Babu too was their classmate.
About the film, he says that it starts as a simple love story. “But there is an extra element in it which I am thrilled about. I can safely say that I have not acted in such a film before. Venkat has always tried to portray characters differently and I love the way he treats them,” the actor adds. Suriya says that he loves his character in the film, and adds that there is a supernatural element as well. “The film is a mix of many genres,” he says, adding that that this is not a regular story with a hero, villain and heroine.
“I had worked with cinematographer Rajasekhar for my earlier films Kaka Kaka and Ghajini and both were turning points in my career; and now he is working on this film. I hope he works his magic here as well. He actually tells the story with his camera,” says Suriya.
Personally too, Suriya has enough reasons to be happy. One of them happens to be his wife, actress Jyothika’s return to films after a long gap. “It is wonderful to have Jo back again on the screen after a gap of eight-nine years. She is glowing and it’s a special experience to watch her act,” says the proud husband. Suriya adds that he has started his production house, 2D Entertainment, to make films for kids and families. Jyothika’s comeback film is the first one made under the banner.
