Six-member armed gang arrested

Chennai: A six-member armed gang, all stated to be history sheeters, was rounded up by a special team of the city police at a house in Tiruverkadu in the early hours of Friday. Police sources said a special team cordoned off the house at Veeraraghavapuram on Avadi-Poonamallee road around 3 am,  based on specific inputs.

The gang surrendered without resistance.“Twelve sickles and two knives and a few ingredients used in making crude bombs were recovered from the house. All of them were associates of a gangster in Washermanpetand have several criminal cases, including murder, against them,”senior police officers said.

The arrested persons were identified as Eli alias Eli Yuaraja, Esha alias Eashwaran, Manikandan, Shoaban Raj, Sathish alias Pallu Sathish and Abu alias Abu Vignesh.
