Belagavi: A large number of Congress activists and leaders from the state will be staging a three-day dharna in front of the AICC office in New Delhi from May 20 demanding the removal of Mr Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister.

A group of ‘loyal’ Congress workers announced at a joint press conference in Belagavi that the leaders will demand that the Congress high command appoint Congress senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge as CM replacing Mr Siddaramaiah immediately.

At a joint press conference in Belagavi headed by former KPCC member Shankar Munavalli, the leaders said Mr Siddaramaiah is an ‘inefficient’ leader who failed to respond to people’s problems and aspirations.

“The CM did not give any importance to the severe fuel crisis that brought life in entire north-Karnataka to a standstill for more than two weeks.

“In the larger interests of Karnataka and the Congress party, we demand that the party name Mr Kharge as CM, we also demand the removal of KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar,”Mr Munavalli said.
