Police have booked a case of murder against the accused
Hyderabad: A street fight took an ugly turn in Mirchowk of Hyderabad resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy who died after receiving continuous blows on his head and face.
The victim, Mohammed Nabeel collapsed on the ground as his friends were cheering and recording the fight using their mobile phones.
However, after his death his friends covered up the incident and appeared to make it as an accident.
A week after his death, video footage of the fight surfaced, based on which the police have booked a case for culpable homicide and decided to exhume the body to conduct the post-mortem.
“It appears that the boy collapsed on the ground due to continuous blows on his temporal region by his opponent. We would exhume the body and conduct a post-mortem,” said South Zone DCP Mr. V. Satyanarayana
According to locals, Nabeel’s friends challenged him for fist fight, which he accepted and began fighting.
The Nabeel’s opponent held his head tight under his arms and punched him continuously, while Nabeel tried to punch him back however. After more than five or six punches, Nabeel collapsed on the ground.
The victim’s friends rushed him to a hospital, where the doctors said that he was brought dead. The body will be exhumed for autopsy.
Nabeel’s parents lodged a complaint with the police. A case of suspicious death has been registered now, but it is likely to be altered into a case of murder after further probe, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) V Satyanarayana.
The matter came to light today after the incident, which was filmed, was shown on television channels. The DCP said it is a serious matter that a group of youngsters misled the parents of the deceased that he died in an accident and ensured that it did not get reported to police and also hospital.
