Gionee Elife S7 switches to black and white screen when battery is low

Gionee’s 2015 flagship – the Elife S7 – comes with a variety of enhancements aimed at better performance using lower power. The S7 is aesthetically appealing, but built using tough aviation grade metal and glass.

It features a unique U-shaped frame design inspired by railway tracks – two parallel metal lines that house the side buttons, in a glossy shell. The idea is to make the phone one-hand-use friendly and eliminate possibilities of bending in tight pockets. The device is 5.5mm thick and comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display.

Gionee claims that the S7 is the world’s first dual-SIM dual 4G, all-band compliant phone. But what really makes the device an interesting choice is its proprietary battery technology. The moment the battery charge is down to 10%, the S7 automatically shifts into an ‘extreme mode’, where the screen turns black and white with reduced functionality and continues this way for up to 33 hours. The 2700 mAh battery is also optimized for uniform cooling across the length and breadth of the device.

The Android v. 5 'Lollipop'-fueled S7 also features enhancements in the camera performance.
