BENGALURU: A 32-year-old woman committed suicide by drinking poison after feeding the same to her 11-year-old daughter in Subramanyanagar police limits on Sunday afternoon. While the woman died in hospital on Monday morning, her daughter Shivani is battling for life.
The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. The deceased has been identified as Aruna, wife of Nagaraj, owner of a well-known travel agency. The incident was reported from Rajajinagar in Subramanayanagar police limits.
The incident came to light around 1 pm on Sunday when Aruna’s aunt Padma went to her house in Rajajinagar II Block. Padma, who saw Aruna and her daughter lying unconscious, alerted Aruna’s father Nanje Gowda. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital. They were later shifted to a super speciality hospital.
While Aruna died on Monday morning, Shivani is in ICU. In his statement to police, Nanje Gowda said that his daughter and grand-daughter had consumed poison. Nagaraj was not at home when the incident took place.
A case of unnatural death has been registered in Subramanyanagar police station. Further investigations are on.
