Bengaluru: A doctor from Kalaburgi has moved against the prestigious Christ University (CU) of the city over the confusion in the entrance test for admission to the BBA course offered by the University.

His grievance is registered with the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) vide registration number DSEHE/E/2015/0186.

According to Dr. Sharad M Tanga, a resident and a surgeon from Kalaburgi, his daughter had applied for the BBA course in the University. The admission test was conducted on April 26 and the result was announced on May 1.

“But most of the students didn't get their results and only a few were awarded admission. There was not even a waiting list. But now the University has issued another notification stating that the II round selection process for: (BBA_BBA (Hons)_BBA Finance & IB and BA_BBA LLB). Exam will be held on May 31.

“The University officials are calling the first admission test as Session I and are calling this examination as session II.  All those students who were not given their session I results are now forced to re-apply for the session II examination with all the fees and need to appear for this examination,” he said.

“After the admission test the university should have published the merit and waiting list. Now all the students who didn't get a seat after the session I examination have to appear for the session II examination also. It is not fair,” he said.

Dr. Tanga informed that he had raised the issue with the MHRD as Christ University had violated the rules and regulations related to admission tests/admission procedure.

Higher education department is not aware: Speaking to this newspaper, an officer from the state higher education informed that the general practice adopted by any university is the holding of a single admission test. After the admission test, an interview/ group discussion is conducted. Based on the performance of the students, the merit list is prepared.

“Along with the merit list, a waiting list is also prepared. “If the complaint is of two admission tests, it is really unfortunate. Why had the university conducted the first admission test even before the announcement of Class XII results of any of the boards including Karnataka PU department, CBSE or ICSE/ISC?  Parents and students are in a state of helplessness.” he said.
