US killed Osama bin Laden with Pak aid: Report
Mr Hersh made allegations in a new article
Islamabad: The United States killed al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, with the full cooperation of the Pakistani intelligence agencies, an American investigative journalist has claimed. Journalist Seymour M Hersh made the eye-popping allegations in a new article published in the London Review of Books.
Mr Hersh, an American investigative journalist and author says that United States forces killed Osama bin Laden with the full cooperation of Pakistani intelligence agencies, who had allegedly kept the 9/11 mastermind prisoner inside his Abbottabad compound for years before the fatal raid.
The report, a lengthy article by the journalist, widely contradicts multiple elements of the original account of the May 2011 raid by US forces provided by the Obama administration and other federal government figures.
“The White House still maintains that the mission was an all-American affair, and that the senior generals of Pakistan’s army and Inter-Services Intelligence agency were not told of the raid in advance,” Mr Hersh said.
“This is false, as are many other elements of the Obama administration’s account,” Mr Hersh wrote in the 10,000-word expose published online on Monday on the London Review of Books website.
