Balayya has a problem
Actor’s film, faces a promotion crisis as the movie’s leading ladies are avoiding media
While Balakrishna’s Lion is set to hit the screens on May 14, the filmmakers could not publicise the film as much as they would have liked to, because the leading ladies, Radhika Apte and Trisha stayed away from the film’s publicity run.
Trisha, who recently broke her engagement, wasn’t ready to face the media and thus only attended the audio function of the film. “She doesn’t want to say anything about her break-up and so she distanced herself from the publicity of the film,” says a source.
The Chennai-based actress has been trying to stay away from the media glare, ever since news of her engagement with entrepreneur Varun Manian being called off was reported.
Meanwhile actress Radhika Apte, who had announced in an interview that she doesn’t want to work in Telugu films any more, because of its “patriarchal” and “chauvinistic” nature stayed away from the film’s publicity run too.
Apte, however, is also being forced to deal with the leak of a controversial scene from an upcoming Anurag Kashyap film. “She (Radhika Apte) wanted to avoid questions on both these issues and has completely stayed away from promoting Lion,” adds the source.
