Karnataka’s Nandini milk enters Hyderabad mart
Company plans to launch 60 new products including ghee, lassi, butter and biscuits
Hyderabad: If figures are anything to go by, non-milk products like sweets, chocolates today contribute a major chunk of business to a dairy firm. Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Nandini milk products, Karnataka Milk Federa-tion MD S.N. Jayaram said, “The revenues from the sale of non-milk products is increasing, given the market for sweets and chocolates is itself growing in India. We get 30 per cent of our revenues from sale of non-milk products.”
Nandini milk products would be available in Hyderabad market from Friday onwards. Apart from milk, the company plans to launch 60 new products including ghee, lassi, butter, biscuits and sweets.
The milk federation will supply 35,000 litres of milk every day under its brand Good Life and will subsequently increase it to 40,000 litres.
The Bengaluru-based diary company will source the milk from its processing and packaging unit in Mahbubnagar. “Hyderabad is a very big market for dairy products. Its daily milk requirement is nearly one lakh litres a day. We will be aiming to fill the gap with our daily milk production of 65 lakh litres a day,” said Mr Jayaram. The Karnataka-based dairy firm also expects to increase its turnover with this new venture by 20 per cent from the Rs10,500 crore in the financial year.
