There’s nothing like running with thousands of people from all walks of life on an early Sunday morning. Actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be seen as the face of the 10K run, besides Gul Panag, Neha Dhupia, Rahul Bose, Sunil Chhetri, Reeth Abraham and famous runners like Marie-Jose Perec, the international event ambassador at this star-studded run. While many runners dedicate months of practice for running a marathon, we speak to a few of the city celebrities who will be spotted at the TCS World 10K run on May 17.

Vani Ganapathy who is running for BPac says, “ I’m part of the Majaa run which is 5K. I can’t complete the 10 k run, as it might lead to injury, since I’m a dancer. It’s more for the spirit of the run that I will be at the Majaa run, which is part of the main TCS 10K run. Most non-profitable organisations take part for visibility and many companies use this as a platform to raise funds. I will raise funds for The Billion Eyes Campaign for safety of women and children and Andaduru Bengaluru for a cleaner and greener city alongwith Revathy Ashok, Mohandas Pai, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Prasad Bidapa, Harish Bijoor and others.”

Running with B.Pac for a safer and cleaner Bengaluru is another prominent city’s brand guru, Harish Bijoor who feels that the spirit of the run is exciting in itself. “The fact that it is happening in Bengaluru is an even more exciting thought. My rare and precious Sunday in Bengaluru will start with this run as I’m hardly in town. We are doing it for a special cause. I have attempted just two marathons so far; one in the good old Bengaluru and the second was the very exciting Boston Marathan.

Although, I couldn’t complete both, it was very exciting. I completed 17k in Boston and then got onto a flight to London, only to find that when I got out of that flight, I was creaking and aching all over. In the Bengaluru run, I dropped out early at 11 km. Even though I was a Marathan drop-out, I think it’s the spirit that counts.”

City’s fashion guru who is also part of the Majaa run, Prasad Bidapa, states, “I exercise thrice a week. I walk five km in the mornings, and since I will be part of the Majaa run which is only 5K, I’m sure I can do it. I feel marathon is a great way to get Bengaluru on the move. I’ve been part of the run for three years. Infact, I was there when Bpac was first conceptualised at one of the morning marathons when Mohandas Pai suggested it to be a part of the Majaa run over a breakfast. I’ve asked some of the models to also join me for the Majaa run.”
