Amit Kataria faces heat for wearing shades

Mr Kataria had won appreciations from the PM who called him a “dabang” officer

RaipurThe Chhattisgarh government has pulled up Bastar collector Amit Kataria, an IAS officer of 2004 batch, for wearing sunglasses and flashy dresses when he received Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s recent visit to the region.
 
A letter dated May 13 issued by special secretary of General Administration Department (GAD) of Chhattisgarh government, on Mr Kataria said, “It has come to the notice of the administration that you did not wear appropriate customary uniform, instead had sunglasses on when you received the PM…. Your actions do not conform to the All India Services (conduct) Rules”.
 
Citing Section 3(1) of All India Services (Conduct) Rules of 1968 which says, “Every member of the service shall at all times maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and shall do nothing which is unbecoming a member of the service”, the official missive cautioned him not to repeat such an action which amounts to breaching of protocol by an officer of All India Services.
 
Incidentally, Mr Kataria had won appreciations from the PM who called him a “dabang” officer. Dantewada district collector K.C. Devsenapati has also been slapped with a similar notice that he was not wearing customary uniform while receiving the PM.
