Chennai: DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin kept the twists and turns in the political drama changing to Hitchcockian levels by visiting DMDK leader Vijayakanth early Friday. The meeting has happened three weeks after the leader of Opposition visited Gopalapuram and the following day paraded most of the state’s Opposition in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the pretext of protecting Tamil Nadu’s interests in Mekedatu. Indeed, there is more to it than the wedding invitation and Mekadatu in the two meetings. Not surprisingly, very few in both parties even wanted to dispute that speculation.

As if that were not enough, the BJP pitched in. From shrillest critics to admirers of the AIADMK overnight, the state BJP leaders’ statements changed in tone and tenor overnight, post-verdict. As the old Tamil adage “there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics” goes, BJP national executive member L.  Ganesan, who is considered more close to Gopalapuram than Poes Garden, on Friday dismissed the demand for moving the Supreme Court against Jayalalithaa in the case appeal, indicating the emergence of a new political formation for 2016.

It would be a travesty to not mention a sharp-tongued EVKS Elangovan who has been going all guns blazing against the ruling AIADMK for a while now. A guarded CPI (M) statement state secretary G. Ramakrishnan also wants an appeal in the wealth case.

Murmurs are loudly heard on Anna Arivalayam corridors that Stalin may visit PMK leaders in a few days to invite them for the family wedding, as did Dr Ramadoss senior for his granddaughter’s wedding which was followed by the party declaring Anbumani CM candidate.
