ThiruvananthapuramThe BJP has decided to intensify its agitation against the UDF government’s alleged corruption and  lay a  24-hour siege to the secretariat from Monday.  The party supporters from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta will gather at the  secretariat  and block all the four gates  from  5 p.m. The agitation will be formally inaugurated by BJP national president Amit Shah  at 12 noon on Tuesday.

BJP sources said  that over  20, 000  supporters would participate in the siege. State president V. Muraleedharan and other senior leaders would  stay  back with the agitators on Monday night. More protestors will  come from other districts on Tuesday morning. The secretariat staff would  not be blocked as  the protest is against the corrupt UDF government, sources said.

“The party chief will also attend a gathering of prominent BJP  and community leaders and citizens in the capital city on Tuesday evening,”  said Mr Muraleedharan. The protest will mark the beginning of the BJP’s campaign for the local body elections in September.
