Sanders smuggler Mukesh Adani arrested
Two police teams were keeping a watch on the smuggler since some days

Anantapur: In a major breakthrough, the Kadapa police nabbed international red sanders smuggler Mukesh Adani and unearthed a huge dump of red sanders logs worth Rs 20 crore in the Magali area of Hissar district in Haryana on Saturday.
The 37-year-old Mukesh Adani from Haryana is an accused in two cases in connection with red sanders smuggling in Kadapa district. Two special police teams were keeping a watch on the movements of the smuggler since some days. Kadapa SP Naveen Gulati said the police have upped the ante against smugglers involved in red sanders smuggling.
He said the special teams got clues about Mukhesh Adani’s involvement while questioning other smugglers. Adani was purchasing red sanders logs from the Seshachalam forests in Rayalaseema and dumping it in his godown in the Magali area of Haryana. From there it was sold in countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
Special cell DSP B. Sreenivasulu and DSP M. Rajagopala Reddy are cracking down on smuggling in Kadapa district.
Recently, the police arrested another Kadapa-based international smuggler named B. Venkataramana of Chingarajupalli and seized red sanders worth Rs 9 crore.
During the grilling the smugglers revealed the role of Badani and his base in Haryana.
“Our teams raided Magali and caught the smuggler along with six tonnes of red sanders worth Rs 20 crore in the market,” supritendent of police Naveen Gulati said.
He will soon be brought to Kadapa district. The police hope to get more information about the role of other international red sanders smugglers from the Haryana smuggler.
