88 year old amnesiac disappears in Chennai
According to the family he was not taking any treatment for his occasional amnesia
Chennai: Family members of C.G. Ramakrishnan, an 88-year-old retired government employee suffering from occasional amnesia and resident of Avadi in Chennai, are frantically searching for him, after he went missing from his daughter’s house in Thiruvallur on Friday morning. “He has no history of such disappearance. Once he went to his friend’s house but returned the next day. Now for the last three days we have been searching for him,” said his grandson Suerendra Babu who works for a firm in Puducherry.
Ramakrishnan’s daughter Vani, a Thiru vallur resident, informed the Thiruvallur town police about her father’s disappearance. The police had advised the family to make enquiries in the neighbourhood and also call up Rama krishnan’s friends before registering the case. He was staying with his daughter Sudha Subranmanian, at Sastri Nagar in Avadi. Ramakrishnan went to Thiruvallur with Sudha and her daughter to visit his other daughter Vani, a resident of Jayaprakash Street in Thiruvallur’s Rajaji Nagar. From there he vanished, his grandson said.
According to the family, the retired foreman of a government press was not taking any treatment for his occasional amnesia. “Very recently only have we noticed his problem with memory. My aunt had seen him sitting in the hall on Friday at 6 am and by 6.30 he had disappeared. Though the family members at home started looking for him immediately, they could not trace him,” Surendra Babu said. The octogenarian never had the practice of carrying a mobile phone with him. He was wearing a gray colour T-shirt and a lungi and was carrying a red checked shawl when he disappeared.
