IPL 8: RCB’s Dinesh Karthik fined 20 per cent of match fee, Virat Kohli let off
RCB wicketkeeper was found guilty after heated discussion with on-field umpire Kumar Dharamsena
Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was fined 20 per cent of his match fee for his alleged altercation with umpire Kumar Dharmasena during his team’s match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday.
It all started as rain began to pour down heavily during RCB’s rain curtailed match against SRH. Skipper Virat Kohli rushed to the on-field umpire Dharmasena after the last over of the SRH innings to protest against his decision to carry on with the game despite continuous drizzle.

Kohli, however, who was also involved in the heated exchange with the Sri Lankan umpire was neither fined nor warned.
According to a media release issued by the IPL, "Match referee Roshan Mahanama found Karthik guilty of the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.8) of conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."
