‘Doga depends on Bombay Velvet’ says Anurag Kashyap
According to reports, Anurag now plans to shift his base to Paris
Before the release of Bombay Velvet, which was the most awaited film of 2015, Anurag Kashyap had said, “I am very eager to show it to people and eager to see the their reaction. The faith I have in the people who are involved with the film doesn’t give me space to feel low.”
When the film finally hit the theatres on May 15, it had a disastrous opening. There were extreme opinions about the film, with scales weighing heavily towards criticism. Anurag had his own vision for the film. “I hope we redefine mainstream with this movie. That has always been the ambition. My definition of mainstream is very different from how people define it. For me, it was stop talking and do something,” he had said.
According to reports, Anurag now plans to shift his base to Paris and stay there for a while and make movies there. Before the release of the film, he had said, “After Bombay Velvet I want to step back a little and play the role of a producer. Phantom has been running because of an active Vikramaditya and Vikas. Vikram has not been able to make a film, so we have to alternate responsibilities. I will play the role of a producer for sometime. I want to use this time to write and focus on Doga.”
Doga (a fictional superhero character) is Anurag’s next big budget dream project. He had said, “Doga will be time-consuming and it all depends on how Bombay Velvet fares.”
