The hashtag has climbed to the top spot on worldwide trends
Mumbai: Hours after the top trend #ModiInsultsIndia and outrage on Twitter regarding Modi’s speech on Indians ‘ashamed’ of their county, #ModiIndiasPride was racing ahead.
The hashtag, which clearly comes across as a counter-effort by Modi's fans, also climbed to the top spot worldwide trends.

Earlier, Modi sparked a social media backlash after claiming that Indians abroad had once felt "ashamed" of their country.

In Shanghai, the PM had said, "Earlier, you felt ashamed of being born Indian. Now you feel proud to represent the country. Indians abroad had all hoped for a change in government last year."
Twitterati interpreted the comments as unpatriotic and took to social media to lambast the PM, using the hashtag #ModiInsultsIndia.
