Mumbai: Hours after the top trend #ModiInsultsIndia and outrage on Twitter regarding Modi’s speech on Indians ‘ashamed’ of their county, #ModiIndiasPride was racing ahead.

The hashtag, which clearly comes across as a counter-effort by Modi's fans, also climbed to the top spot worldwide trends.

Earlier, Modi sparked a social media backlash after claiming that Indians abroad had once felt "ashamed" of their country.
