Chennai: Hot days are here again. The showers a few days ago brought down the mercury level quite significantly; but it was short-lived. The city recorded 37.8 degree Celsius on Monday  The hot weather was so stark in comparison to the pleasant 30.7 degree Celsius the same day last week.

“Though there is a trough hovering over the Lakshadweep area, thereby bringing continuous rainfall in the southern and western regions of the state, present weather models indicate that Chennai can largely expect some dry days ahead,” a weather official at the Regional Meteorological Centre here said. According to Met department data, from March Chennai received 59.2 mm of rain so far.

On Monday, Sankarpuram (Villupuram district) received the maximum 12 cms rain, while Colachel and Pechiparai (both in Kanyakumari district) received 11 and 10 cms respectively. These three were among the top three places which received rain.
