Thief gets stuck in chimney, rescued, admitted in hospital
As his legs were injured the police shifted him to the area hospital
Hyderabad: A thief, who tried to enter a house through a chimney, got struck in it at Ambedkarnagar on Monday. The police rescued Errolla Bhargav, 24, from the chimney of a house that belonged to late K. Ramakrishna Goud. Hearing his loud cries, the people alerted the police.
Police said Bhargav, a daily wager, is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar and a neighbour of the victim K. Indiramma.
Bhargav’s father Errolla Balakrishna committed suicide six months ago unable to bear the harassment of his wife and son. Both were sent to judicial custody and had come out on bail.
“Bhargav's family lived in this house six years ago. His father sold the house to Ramakrishna Goud. Since, he had lived in it he knew it very well and might have chosen the chimney instead of entering through a window or door,” an inspector said.
“He entered the chimney up to his legs. He had a swelling on his calves,” neighbours said. The police and locals used hammers and crowbars to break the slab, cut the chimney and pull out Bhargav.
As his legs were injured the police shifted him to the area hospital, Siddipet. The police has booked as case under section IPC 445 and investigating the case.
