Hyderabad: As the IPL hurtles into the business end, the pundits as well as fans are analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the top four teams — Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals. However, going by the Hyderabad bookies, CSK is best equipped to reach the finals, and even win the title.

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore have supporters too. Virat Kohli had put up a great performances but bookies prefer Mahender Singh Dhoni to him. Bets worth several lakhs of rupees are expected to be placed in the first Qualifier featuring Chennai and Mumbai on Tuesday.

There are two kinds of punters. Those who bet on the result of a match and others who predict scores at progressive stages or individual overs. “They bet on a certain number of runs that will be scored in a particular over or that a team won’t hit more than a certain number of runs over a set period,” said a betting organiser from Secunderabad.

However, unlike earlier matches, more bets will be on the final outcome of the match than fragmented bets on overs, which was the trend in previous matches.
When it comes to over-based bets, more money will be on batsmen than bowlers. CSK’s Dhoni, RCB’s Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, MI’s Rohit Sharma and Lendl Simmons are the hot stars.

On the bowling front, CSK’s Dwayne Bravo and MI’s Lasith Malinga are the punters’ favourites. In the upcoming match between RCB and RR, bowler Yuzvendra Chahal will also be followed keenly. “Bravo has been consistent in the tournament, so many would bet on him during the CSK-MI match,” said a punter from Secunderabad. As far as wagers on match results are concerned, CSK and RCB seem to be raking in all the moolah. You bet.
