Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut was reportedly roped in to play the lead in Sujoy Ghosh's next film. But if the latest buzz is to be believed then the actress is no longer a part of the project. Apparently Kangana never singed the dotted line for the film opposite Saif Ali Khan. Balaji Motion Pictures have acquired the rights for the romantic thriller, which is based on Japanese author Keigo Higashino's book.

Reportedly, Kangana was approached for the film and was finalised for the role but she later chose to walk out. It is also speculated that there were several issues relating to the budget and casting of the film. Also, Sujoy's presence at a leading production house's office sparked another controversy.

Kangana even confirmed the news to a leading daily and said that she didn't sign any contract and is not committed to the project. The actress who has several movies lined up will be taking a break for a month or two.

While the film has already been made in Japanese and Korean languages, the same is currently being made in Hollywood too. The book revolves around a woman who ends up killing her abusive ex-husband. Her neighbour helps up cover up the murder. However, the body is eventually found and a determined investigator finds something amiss.
