Akshara Haasan to be paired opposite Vishal?
Makers confirmed that talks are on with Akshara Haasan for the role
Akshara Haasan, the younger daughter of Kamal Haasan and Shruti Haasan’s sister, who had turned down Mani Ratnam’s Kadal, is now set to make her Tamil debut in a Lingusamy flick. If sources are to be believed, Akshara, who started her career as an assistant director and debuted as an actor with the Balki flick Shamitabh in Bollywood, was Lingusamy’s first choice for the sequel to his earlier hit Sandakozhi which starred Vishal.
While Meera Jasmine played the bubbly heroine in the original, the buzz is that Lingusamy will cast Akshara in the effervescent character he wrote for the new script. When Lingusamy was contacted by this newspaper, the producer-director who was in the final leg of scripting the sequel said, “It is too early to talk about it, although I can confirm that talks are on with Akshara.” When asked if Meera will also be a part of the franchise, he said, “Yes, she has a small role.”
However, one may recall Akshara’s earlier quote that having began in B’town, she does not consider Tamil cinema as an option as of now. Anything may happen in film industry; when Lingusamy could get Kamal for his production venture Uttama Villain, he might as well rope in Akshara.
