With her two films Pandaga Chesko and Kick 2 almost ready for release, Rakul Preet Singh says these days she even thinks in Telugu, rather than her mother tongue, Punjabi. “At events I speak in Telugu, but I haven’t started dubbing for my films yet because I think that would need perfect enunciation. Perhaps, two films more and I can start dubbing for my own projects,” she says.

Rakul’s role in Pandaga Chesko is that of an environmentalist. She has a lot of funny scenes in the movie due to the tiff she gets into with the film’s hero, Ram. “It is a performance-oriented role which helps in taking the story forward. In Kick 2 also, I have a layered role and I’ll be sporting two looks,” adds Rakul.

The actress, who was recently in the news for hiking her remuneration to Rs 1 crore, says that the difference between the fees of male and female actors is considerably big and it has always been that way. “It would be nice if men and women were paid the same, but actresses end up doing two-three films at the same time that an actor completes one movie, so it gets balanced.”

Rakul spends considerable time in the city but she isn’t keen on investing in a property here as her shooting schedules are hectic and staying in a hotel is convenient. Her friends in T’town are Regina Cassandra, Rashi Khanna, Sundeep Kishen, Sai Dharam Tej and Aadi. Her stylist, Neeraja Kona is also a close friend.
Rakul, who is also looking forward to the release of her Hindi film, Shimla Mirchi, directed by Ramesh Sippy, says that she watched Piku and was overwhelmed by Deepika’s acting. “The film redefined the way we look at our actresses. I hope I get to do a similar role at least once in my career,” she says.
