Karnataka II PU exams: Four websites, four different results!
Many students claimed that their results had been published wrongly on private websites
Bengaluru: A day after the II PUC final examination results were out, the Pre-University Department office in Malleshwaram witnessed chaos and protests by hundreds of aggrieved parents and students. Many of them claimed that their results had been published wrongly on private websites.
Meanwhile, the PU board has given an assurance that action will be taken to rectify these errors. Monica (name changed on request) is a student of Maharani Ammanni college, which is just next to the PU Department office. On Tuesday, she had arrived at the board office with her mother Anasooya. Her problem was an unusual one.
When Monica checked her results on four different websites, she got four different results! When she placed a complaint, at first officials didn't show any interest in finding out her exact marks. But when she approached the PU board director Mrs. Sushma Godbole, the lady assured her of action against the erring websites which had displayed the results wrongly.
But it turned out Monica was not the only one. Another student was complaining that even though she had appeared for English as a language, in the result sheet it was showing French! A student of JSS college alleged that although she had appeared for the examination, on websites her result was shown as ‘absent’!
Mrs. Anasooya, mother of Monica, urged the PU board officials to be more careful while publishing the results. “On different websites different results are being shown against the registration number of my daughter. Based on these results, if she had to take any extreme step, who would be responsible? I want action against the erring websites,” she said strongly.
There were plenty of others. Mrs. Preethi Siddartha L, a student from a girl's college, said that even though she had secured above 90 marks in all the subjects, she was shown as having failed in Chemistry!
“Now I have to apply for a xerox copy, revaluation, retotaling etc,” she said disgustedly. “I have to shell out a minimum of Rs 2,500. I can afford to pay. But what about the poor students,” she questioned. Mrs. Sushma Godbole, director, PU department, declared that she will initiate action against websites that have published wrong results.
