‘Sourav can justify any role,’ says Dona Ganguly

India’s legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar’s recent remarks on Sourav Ganguly has made Prince of Kolkata’s wife Dona Ganguly proud. Gavaskar wants Ganguly to be brought into the Indian team management, as head coach or in any other suitable capacity.

“If Ganguly has the time, he should get fully involved with the team in an official capacity,” Gavaskar is reported to have said.

“It is nice of him to have said so.... I am happy and feel proud,” Dona Ganguly said.

She, however, did not confirm whether an offer has really been made. “I would be happy to see Sourav in any role, head coach or whatever. I am sure he can fully justify any of these," she added. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, when contacted, said, “There is no such appointment at the moment”.
