Vijayawada: Members of Tax Payers’ Association here on Wednesday demanded that the state government withdraw GO No.s 109 and 110 and alleged that the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) would only become a burden on the public.

Addressing a press conference here, association secretary M.V. Anjaneyulu said that the CRDA would take all control over the tax collection and maintenance of the capital city and also lease land in capital city to a private company in the name of providing jobs but the state and central governments would not give any funds for the development of the capital city.

He said the CRDA has to depend on taxes collected from property owners and build the capital with it which gives whole power on city to it.  Mr Anjaneyulu said that people in the 29 villages under core capital region have to suffer overpowering of the CRDA and will face difficulties to pay charges of the 1,200 square yards of land which is given as compensation.

They also opined that the CRDA would have more powers on Krishna River than the VMC and city may suffer water problem in future. Association members further said that this is against democracy and threatened to start an agitation across the state. Deputy secretary V. Srinivas and others were present.
