Private medical college fee hiked in Telangana
The fees for the convener and NRI quota seats have been left untouched
Hyderabad: Private medical college fees are in for a big jump in Telangana. The fee for 10 per cent of the management quota seats in private medical colleges has been hiked to '9 lakh from the current Rs 2.4 lakh an annum. However, the fees for the convener and NRI quota seats have been left untouched.
All management quota seats have been clubbed to form a 35 per cent pool which private medical colleges have been allowed to fill through their own entrance test.
Fees for the A category convener quota and C category NRI quota seats will remain at Rs 60,000 and Rs 11 lakh per annum respectively. In minority medical colleges, the fee for NRI seats has been reduced from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 11 lakh. Convener seats have also been cut from 60 per cent to 50 per cent and fees has been retained at Rs 60,000. The 10 per cent seats have been added to management quota.
The fee in private dental colleges for the convener quota is Rs 45,000. The fee for B category seat is Rs 4 lakh while that for C category NRI seats is Rs 5 lakh a year. The fee structure in minority medical colleges is the same. In minority dental colleges, the fee for B and C category seats is Rs 2.7 lakh per annum.
In medical colleges, about 10 per cent seats from the earlier B category and 25 per cent seats from the earlier C1 category have been clubbed to form the single B category now.
The 10 per cent B category seats were earlier merit-based management quota seats filled through Eamcet. Another 25 per cent of the management quota seats were filled directly by medical colleges.
This C1 category fees was already Rs 9 lakh. The fees were last hiked in August 2014. Essentially, the fee hike is limited to just 10 per cent of the seats.
Admission rules have also been altered for the MCET-AC entrance test. The seats will be filled by the committee for admission constituted by TPMDCMA as per merit from those who qualify in the MCET held by a third party employed for the purpose by the managements association. for that year,” the Health Medical and Family Welfare department said in the government order. The remaining 15 per cent NRI quota seats will be filled through merit.
