Hyderabad: The ministry of external affairs has realigned districts between the passport offices in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, to provide better passport services, following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in June 2014. The jurisdiction of the passport office in Vizag, with two Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) in Vijayawada and Vizag, would cover the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Yanam with effect from May 22.
According to a release issued by Regional Passport Officer S. Ashwini on Thursday, “The districts of Guntur and Krishna, in addition to Yanam (UT of Puducherry), have been realigned and mapped to passport office, Vizag, with effect from May 11. From May 22, complete transfer will be effected. The passport applicants from Guntur, Krishna and Yanam, henceforth, can choose either of the PSKs, namely Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam, with effect from May 22 while registering on the passport portal for passport services.”
The passports of the applicants will accordingly be printed and issued from the passport office at Vizag. Passport services to applicants from the rest of the Andhra Pradesh districts, namely, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur, will continue to be rendered by PSK Tirupati or PSKs in Hyderabad until further orders.
