According to the ongoing developments, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu selected Panchumarthi Anuradha and T.D. Janardhan for MLCs. T.D. Janardhan is a senior leader and is active in politics since 1983. Earlier he had gained recognition as brother-in-law of former minister Nettam Raghuram. Later he developed contacts in the party and emerged as one of the close persons to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He has been supervising the NTR Trust Bhavan activities for the last several years as secretary.
Earlier, he also worked as APCOB chairman and once he was also in the Rajya Sabha race. However, the Chief Minister allotted the MLC post to Janardhan for his long time services to the party in various capacities.Former mayor Panchu-marthi Anuradha was also in the race but district leaders did not expect that she would end up as the party high command’s choice for the MLC.
Panchumarthi Anu-radha’s father who is a commercial tax department official, is close to CM Chandrababu Naidu. Ms Anuradha has been working for teh party since 2000. Ms Anuradha also has the advantage of hailing from Backward Classes giving her an upperhand over other leaders from the party.
On the other hand, Telugu Desam Krishna district president B. Arjunudu and former MLC Y Rajendra Prasad are also in the race. Both the leaders got an assurance from party leadership when they requested for MLA tickets in the last assembly elections. They continued in the party as loyalists ever since and their loyalty seems to bear fruit for them. The party leadership has now okayed their candidatureship as the party’s MLC candidates. The two leaders will get MLC posts under the local body’s quota.
