One of India’s most successful captains talks about the one gift that he never took off

Hyderabad: During the launch of, Azhar, the biopic on his life, former Team India Test captain Mohammad Azharuddin was all praises for Emraan Hashmi, who will be portraying him. “Though Emraan is famous for his kissing scenes, with this film his image will change. Hereafter he will be recognised for his acting skills,” says the cricketer-turned-politician.
Talking about his ever present taveez (the amulet around his neck, Azhar says, “I do not know what is written inside the taveez. It was given to me by my grandfather and I was told to wear it always.
“Since then I haven’t removed it even for a single day,” he adds. About his expectations from the film that is being produced by Balaji, he says, “I am hopeful that the different phases of my life will be portrayed according to what was discussed with me.” The film will portray Azhar’s life from his cricketer days to his life as a politician. It is being directed by Tony D’Souza.
