HPS dropout held for theft, 1.3 kg gold seized

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad Public School dropout who became a burglar was arrested by the west zone task force on Friday. Police said the man took to crime for the sake of money and used to target houses and apartments. Three booty receivers were also arrested and about 1.3 kg gold ornaments were recovered. The culprit, Mir Kazam Ali Khan alias Kaju, 22, is a resident of Tolichowki. His father is a Unani doctor and his siblings are well settled. Kazam dropped out while studying in Class X at HPS.
The arrested booty receivers are Mohd. Abdul Imran Khan alias Lala, 27, sales executive at a mobile store and a resident of Jangamet, Askar Bin Ali alias Chawoosh, 26, a plumber and resident of Old Malakpet, Mirza Jaleel Baig, 27, a resident of Falaknuma. Task force DCP B. Limba Reddy said Kazam Ali Khan used to operate alone and was involved in about 11 cases. Before targeting apartments he conducts a survey. He used to keep an eye out for families which leave apartment complexes, the DCP said. “While committing thefts he wears a cap and carries a bag in hand and pretends to be an electrician, AC technician or a friend and tells the same to watchmen. He breaks open main door locks and latches and using tools he used to open almirahs and steal jewellery,” Mr B. Limba Reddy said.
Later, with the help of booty receivers he used to sell the stolen goods and spend the money either in the city or at Goa. He is involved in cases in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates. Earlier, he was arrested on several occasions by the Rajendranagar, RC Puram, Kukatpally, Nallakunta, Golconda, Marredpally police. He was released in September 2014 and soon after started committing offences. Cops recovered about 1.3 kg gold, a bike, a mask and five cell phones from Kazam. Task force officials said the culprit and the material will be handed over to police.
