IG's copying case: Statements of eleven examinees recorded
Absentees to be quizzed in next sitting on May 25
Kottayam: The MG University syndicate sub-committee inquiring into the allegation of copying by Thrissur range IG T.J. Jose during the LLM examinations at St Paul’s College, Kalamassery, recently, took evidence on Friday from 11 of the 57 candidates who had appeared for the examination.
“ None of those who were in the same row where the IG sat for the examination were present at the university guest house where the evidence was taken. Those who gave the evidence said that they did not see what exactly had transpired between the IG and the invigilator except that there occurred a dispute, and the IG left the examination hall after a heated conversation,” a committee member said.
Three of those who were absent were advocates and the rest government employees, sources said. At least six of them were judicial officers. They will be asked to come on May 25 during the next sitting.
The inquiry panel had sent a postal intimation to IG Jose to give evidence. “If he appears before us, we will submit the report by the first week of June,” said a committee member.
The sub-committee consisted of Prof C.H .Abdul Latif, Prof. Satheesh Kochuparambil, Prof. C.V. Thomas, Dr N. Jayakumar, Prof. K.V. Narayan Kurup and Dr R. Vijayakumar. Mr P.K. Firos, another member, was not present on Friday.
