Nala work, traffic curbs to continue
CM has asked the SB to cut the road and install the pipelines
Hyderabad: Once the Tank Bund works are over, another set of road blocks are likely. The Kavadiguda road, next to Marriott hotel gate, will then be cut as a four-km trunk sewerage line will pass through it. This will be done after the pipeline installation at Tank Bund is done. In fact, the entire work to divert Kukatpally nala sewerage will take about three months, which means commuters will need to take alternative roads till then.
The Water Board has been given a deadline till May 31 to install the pipeline at Tank Bund and repair the road. After that, the Kavadiguda road works will start. Since underground ducting is expensive, the TS CM has asked the Sewerage Board to cut the road and install the pipelines to divert the sewerage.
Water Board project officials said, “Currently, the Tank Bund road has been cut to install the pipeline. After that the Kavadiguda works will start. From there, the nala will enter the Hussainsagar surplus nala and all the generated waste will flow through Ashoknagar, Baghlingampally, Vidhyanagar and finally enter the Amberpet sewerage treatment plant and from there it will go to the Musi river.”
People have been advised to take the following alternative routes from May 23 to May 31: Traffic coming from Karbala Maidan towards Upper Tank Bund will take right turn at Buddha Bhavan and proceed towards Necklace Road. Traffic from RP Road, proceeding towards Lower Tank Bund, will take a left turn from Bible House and proceed towards Lower Tank Bund via Jabbar Building.
Traffic coming from Upper Tank Bund from Ambedkar statue will take a right turn at Sailing Club and proceeds towards Kavadiguda.
RTC buses too should be diverted as per the above mentioned diversions. RTC district buses and heavy vehicles coming from Jubilee Bus Station will be diverted towards YMCA Junction-Sangeet-Tarnaka-Osmania University-MGBS and same route will be followed for return as well.
