Hyderabad: Now face one week in jail for drinking in public

Hyderabad: A man was sentenced to seven days in prison for drinking in public in Chatrinaka. It is the first of its kind punishment.

Prohibitory orders against public drinking were issued by the police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy.

The man identified as B. Ravi, 22, is a labourer residing in Badjinagar in Chatrinaka. Chatrinaka inspector N. Lakshmi Narayana said that late on May 22 night, Ravi was found drinking on the road near Badjinagar and was arrested.

He was produced before the ninth additional chief metropolitan court at Nampally on Friday.
