KARIMNAGARThe Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), on Saturday, held public hearing on the thermal power plants proposed to be set up by the NTPC  at Ramagun-dam. The officials collected objections, views and concerns of the villagers near the site of the proposed two 800-MW coal-based power plants.

Residents of Mallialpalli, Kundan-palli,  Rayadandi, Elka-lapalli, Laxmipuram, Chalapalli, Medipalli, CC Kannala, Krishna Nagar and Mathangi Colony took part in the hearing held at ZPH school in NTPC Colony.
They demanded the government to provide jobs generated through the power plants to their children.

They wanted the authorities to recruit their children in jobs offered on contract and outsource basis as they would be affected a lot due to pollution, once the plants come up in Ramagundam. Some villagers wanted the NTPC authorities to lay roads and construct schools, provide drinking water facilities, hospitals  and also organise skill development programmes for youth under the corporate social responsibility policy.
