A still from Ilakku

At a recent event to promote the film Ilakku, Abirami Ramanathan lashed out against big budget films which fizzle out in a few days. Ilakku is a movie which speaks highly about Tamil Nadu police and their struggles to capture the sandalwood brigand Veerappan.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanathan said, “From my experiences, I would say that theaters thrive only because of small budget films. We know what fate has befallen big budget movies in the recent past. Audiences these days are not impressed with big heroes or big productions alone. They want different genres of scripts, narrated interestingly.”
