Chaos prevails at civic body meet

RajahmundryThe general session of the municipal corporation council presided over by the Mayor, P. Rajani Sesha Sai, witnessed uproar as both the ruling TD and the Opposition YSRC corporators and public representatives targeted the officials for delayi-ng the execution of Godavari Pushkaralu works and graft here on Monday. 
As soon as the session began, YSRC floor leader M. Sharmila Reddy flayed the civic authorities for delaying execution of works and expr-essed concern over the shortage of potable wa-ter supply in some ar-eas in the hot summer. 
 
TD floor leader Varre Srinivas Rao alleged that there was no civic rule except special officer rule in the city. Municipal commissioner J. Murali assured the house that the Pus-hkaralu works would be completed by the end of June and said that they were supplyi-ng potable water throu-gh tankers in the areas located in the suburbs of the city. 
 
TD MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudhary alleged that graft was widespread in the civic administration. He said that the villages located on the city outskirts w-ould be brought under municipal corporation limits. 
 
BJP MLA Dr. Akula Satyanarayana felt the need to accept the proposals of various works for Godavari Pushkaralu only after carrying out thorough scrutiny. MLC Adireddy Appa Rao said that the civic administration had derailed. MP M. Murali Mohan said that the government was committed to organise Godavari Pushkaralu in a grand manner and making arrangements accordingly.
