Srinagar: Three Army jawans were killed and another hurt foiling an infiltration bid across the LoC in Kupwara district Monday. An infiltrating militant was also killed, but his accomplices fled back into PoK.
In Sopore, three persons, including the owner and two sales assistants at a BSNL franchise, were injured in firing by gunmen. One of them died later in hospital. A defence spokesperson said that a patrol of a forward battalion, led by a junior commissioned officer while moving close to the LoC in Tangdhar area of Kupwara intercepted an infiltrating group of militants.
“In the heavy exchange of fire that followed, the infiltrating group was beaten back leaving behind one dead terrorist from whom one AK-47 and one pistol were recovered.
