Constapark: This parking app is like a godsend

Hyderabad: According to statistics, 30 per cent vehicles on the road during weekends are those looking for parking spaces. And with the number of vehicles scheduled to increase by 6 million by 2018, parking is one aspect that is bound to get out of control.
But the app Constapark is here to solve your parking woes. Launched on May 9, it has been founded by 27-year-old Chetan Chauhan, a former student of University of Hyderabad, and his friend Mehul Pangtey. Constapark is an on-demand valet service that is currently operational in Bengaluru.
“It gives you the freedom to go anywhere without ever having to deal with parking. Each of our drivers goes through a selection procedure and police verification,” says Chetan.
Here’s how the app works: If you are stuck in a location where you can’t find a space to park, log into the app and depending on the time and availability of a valet nearby, a driver will come over to your location and pick up your car and park it for you. And when you need the car back, you just need to inform the valet about your location. “We park the cars in legal parking lots which have fixed entry and exit gates with security guards and CCTV cameras. We also carry a Rs 50,00,000 general liability protecting your vehicle,” says Chetan.
The app was conceptualised in 2013 and the team tested it out by taking bookings during the IPL matches. “The number of bookings exceeded our expectations. That’s when we realised that there was a need for this kind of a service in the country,” he says.
While the service is currently available in Bengaluru, the team — which also comprises Lawrence Sathish, who takes care of parking operations — plans on extending the services to Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. “Since our launch, our team has done 90 rounds and the count is increasing,” adds Chetan. The base price for the service is Rs 75 and Rs 35 is added every one hour.
