68 die of sunstroke in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: As many 68 persons died of sunstroke in various parts of district from April 10 till date, according to information provided by the district health authorities. Sixty four succumbed to the scorching heatwave conditions in the month of May. The toll is likely to rise as temperatures are projected to soar.
The soaring temperatures have been proving fatal for many people as indicated by deaths due to sunstroke. In particular, the blistering heat wave conditions have become a bane for elderly people. Out of 68, people aged above 50 accounted for 50 deaths. In the mean time, nine quadragenarians lost their lives after falling ill following raise in mercury. The remaining persons were found aged below 30.
