THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Crime Branch probe has been ordered into the leakage of the result of the polygraph test conducted on Kerala Bar Hotel Association working president Biju Ramesh’s driver Ambili who gave an incriminating statement against finance minister K M Mani.

Additional chief secretary (home) Nalini Netto ordered the probe on the basis of a private petition received by home minister Ramesh Chennithala.

Though there were reports that Ms Netto had declined to conduct the probe, Home department sources said the minister had only directed her to take appropriate action on a private petition.

She took the decision after discussions with senior police officials. Meanwhile, Mr. Chennithala told reporters that the probe was essential to protect credentials of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran had also expressed concerns over the leakage of crucial information in the politically sensitive case saying it would lead to unnecessary criticisms.
