Karnataka High Court issues emergent notice to Ramdev’s Patanjali trust

The HC ordered issue of emergent notices to Central Government, Managing Trustee Patanjali Yogpeeth-DivyaYog Mandir and others

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered issue of emergent notices to Central Government, Managing Trustee Patanjali Yogpeeth-DivyaYog Mandir and others following a petition filed by S.S. Ravishankar seeking ban on the use of ‘Putrajeevak Beej' medicine manufactured by the Ramdev yoga guru-owned Divya Pharmacy.

He has sought directions from the court to call the records pertaining to how the product was allowed to be manufactured, marketed and sold to customers. He further alleged that state, Central Government has failed to implement the “Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994” to stop female foeticides.

A division bench comprising Justice Ananda Byrareddy and Justice B Veerappa ordered emergent notices to the respondents.
 
English medium schools

The high court has directed the state government to consider applications of private schools for English medium within two weeks from Tuesday. While hearing a contempt petition the court directed the state government to consider the long pending applications seeking permission for English medium schools.
